AUO-0404 — Synthetic Vision for the Pilot in Low Visibility Conditions

The system in the cockpit provides the pilot with a synthetic/graphical view of the environment using terrain imagery and position/attitude information.

Rationale
The Flight Crew activates the Enhanced and Synthetic Vision capability of the aircraft. One of the Flight Crew members drives the aircraft as in good visibility conditions thanks to the 'real world image' provided by Enhanced Vision superimposed with airport layout provided by Synthetic Vision and overlaid with piloting indication on Head Up Display. Whilst the other Flight crew member manages the conformance of the ground trajectory to the taxi clearance and monitors the surrounding traffic displayed on the CDTI (head down).
